10 Ways your Address can be Found and 5 Ways to Make them Harder to be Found
How did my stalker find my address? Help!
I had a woman reach out to me to ask how her “private” address was found by a guy harassing her on social media and now in the real world!
Well the first thing you have to understand is that your address is never completely private in the United States.
Your address is a public record and it is tied to you many different ways which makes it easy to locate where you live. Having a voter registration card, driver’s license, buying property, having a landline phone number, or owning a business will automatically put your “private” address in the public realm.
You can obtain some level of privacy to make it harder for others to find you, but alas these aren’t always guaranteed to work all the time.
Below I give you ten ways to find someone’s address in the public realm, and five ways to privatize your personal address to make it harder to find you.
#1 – White Pages
Back in the days, we had phone books where we could search for someone’s phone number in our city. Today, we have a website that includes your phone number and address.
#2 – PeopleFinder Websites
There are numerous free and pay PeopleFinder websites. They list partial addresses and sometimes full addresses. Some websites also include your address history.
Here are three for you to check out:
RADARIS – offers partial addresses, hometown, past home towns, age, date of birth, family and associates names. Service is free.
CLUSTRMAPS – advertised as a public records encyclopedia and offers address histories, phone numbers, family, and sometimes birth dates. Service is free
SPOKEO – a pay service that offers addresses, past addresses, phone numbers, and even social media accounts.
#3 Resident Databases & Directories
Resident databases are sometimes generated and siphons off information from public records. Most of these databases will charge you for searching for information. It’s a scam really. What these websites do is search phone directories and in some cases voter registration websites.
The largest and most popular resident database is The Florida Resident Directory. Some community homeowner’s associations and property managements upload phone numbers and addresses of unit owners onto their public pages without the homeowner’s knowledge.
#4 – Voter Registrations
Voter registrations include your home address. These searches can be conducted on your local government website and sometimes on the federal government website. Sometimes information will be found on one but not the other. If you can’t find the information on the federal website then it is possible it can be found on the local website.

See if you can find your voter records. It often includes your home phone number, address, and current or most recent political party.
#5 – Department of State records
The best place to find someone’s address if they have registered a business is through the Department of State. Even if their business is no longer active, you will find home addresses of the company owner’s registered agent.
In some cases, you might not find the most recent address or you may run into a problem such as:
